Leslie Scherrer Pella is the 2018 President of the NAIOP Wisconsin Chapter Board of Directors. She is the 15th Board President and began her term on January 1, 2018. Leslie is a co-founder and partner of the commercial real estate development and construction firm, PSG, Inc.
What is your value proposition with NAIOP?
Professional development and networking opportunities first attracted me to NAIOP. As a developer, I wanted to be a part of an organization that focused on me and my business. NAIOP continues to provide great connections, key industry information, and impacts the issues that are important to me and my clients.
What inspired you to serve as a Chapter leader?
Anyone that knows me knows that I believe strongly in making deep commitments and following thru completely. As I became more involved in the Chapter and realized the tremendous positive impact it was having on me and my business I wanted to contribute to this effort – to give back and contribute to the organization’s success on behalf of all our members. It was important to me that NAIOP isn’t just a networking organization, it has a deeply committed membership that works passionately, and collaboratively, for the industry.
What is your top goal for the Chapter in 2018?
Our Chapter has tremendous depth in our membership, the level of experience and expertise represented is unparalleled. My goal for 2018 is to more actively engage members to be involved in the Chapter’s activities. From more traditional opportunities such as serving on a member committee to more individualized routes for members to share that experience and expertise, I want to see the organization and the members truly benefit from our collective intellectual capital. It is incredibly important to have members’ voices actively involved in every aspect of the Chapter to ensure it represents our best wishes.
Tell us about your family.
My husband and I have been married for two and half years and live in Lake Geneva. He is currently finishing up a 2 year post graduate residency as a Hospital Pharmacist at Froedtert. I’m really proud of him for diving into a challenging program several years after finishing pharmacy school to continue to advance his career. Just four months ago we welcomed our daughter, Georgia. We are completely captivated by her and are enjoying every minute of being new parents.
My parents serve as role models for me in my professional life. My father is my business partner and his example of working hard and doing what you love with integrity has had a strong influence on me in my own career. My mother has also been a shining example of how to, and how important it is to have balance with family, life, and a career.
Leslie’s Pick 5
What do you do in your free time? My favorite things include being outdoors and active; running, biking, stand up paddling, or even just a family walk around the lake.
What is the last book you read? As a new mother I currently immersed in several about babies, motherhood, and sleep.
What is playing on your MP3 player right now? I always listen to a little bit of everything. The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, U2, Lord Huron and Mumford & Sons are in heavy rotation right now. .
What is your favorite vacation destination? I absolutely love St. John in the USVI.
What is your favorite restaurant? It’s hard to pick one local place that is my favorite, so I’ll give you an alternative answer. The best food I ever had was in a restaurant located in the Amalfi Coast in Italy. It was built into the side of the cliffs with an incredible view of the water and coast line. Everything they served was grown and raised on their property. My husband and I still talk about it to this day.
