Watch a short video and get to know Steve Martin, 2015 NAIOP Chairman.
“I am humbled, honored and excited to be selected as the 2015 NAIOP Chairman,” said Martin. “I plan to continue the momentum of my predecessors in promoting NAIOP and our great industry.” Martin says he plans to “visit as many NAIOP chapters and meet as many members across North America as possible,” in his role as chairman.
In 2015, Martin will be focusing his efforts on strengthening both NAIOP’s brand and diversity. He credits the members of NAIOP as its greatest strength, noting that commercial real estate is a relationship business and NAIOP is the primary place for that critical networking and relationship building. During chapter visits, he’ll update members on NAIOP news and events, and then share his views on how commercial real estate has emerged as a major asset class for investment.
Martin’s commercial real estate expertise includes acquisitions, development and finance. SDM Partners focuses on acquiring opportunistic real estate transactions in the southeastern United States. Prior to forming SDM Partners, Martin was Atlanta managing director for Granite Properties, where he was responsible for more than $350 million in successful transactions over a six-year period. Previously, he held positions with Brannen Goddard Company, Aronov Realty Company, Trammell Crow Company and Mellon Bank.
A 23-year member of NAIOP, Martin has held several association leadership positions including vice chair of the Education, Membership and Business Development committees. He has also served on the Corporate Board of Directors and has been active in NAIOP Georgia. He holds an MBA in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Welcome, Chairman Steve Martin!
