After a short break from monthly updates to enjoy summer, please enjoy the update from the 2013 NAIOP Wisconsin Mentoring Program featuring Tom Foht, Kapur & Associates, mentor and Burton Metz, Wangard Partners, mentee.
Tom Foht, Kapur & Associates, Mentor
Mentoring made easy. Start with a very bright, personable and energetic person and the mentoring becomes a byproduct of the great conversation. It has been my pleasure building a relationship with Burton as we share a similar passion of working hard and playing hard. Our opportunities to get together are well space out because of our busy schedules, but when we meet, the conversation is natural and focused on the things we do to help balance the time demands that ‘sometimes’ come with the job, yet find time to relax (like backpacking for four days – that would be Burton, not me!) I am looking forward to continuing to our sharing of life stories and mutually benefitting from them!
Burton Metz, Wangard Partners, Mentee
It has been my pleasure to get to know Tom over the last few months. He has been busy growing the Kapur & Associates firm over the past 20+ years so it’s an honor to be paired with him in the NAIOP 2013 Mentorship Program and for him to take the time to meet with me.
He really has amazing life stories to share that have reconfirmed key growth areas for me as well –dedication, generating solutions, hard work, forward thinking, creativity, entrepreneurship, people skills, and to have fun! These are some of factors that I found out help him and Kapur continually improve. It’s the stuff that you read/hear of in books & podcasts (which Tom luckily has many suggestions for like ‘EntreLeadership’ ), that we’ve now been able to discuss with real life examples. Being in a business development position at Wangard, bouncing these business ideas off a seasoned guy has been terrific. I look forward to continuing these great conversations down the road with Tom (a road that hopefully Tom and his team helped engineer).
