NAIOP Wisconsin recently sat down with Courtney Bulger, NAIOP Vice President of Membership and Chapter Relations. Bulger and Chapter representatives were in Washington, D.C. for the 2017 NAIOP Chapter Leadership and Legislative Retreat (CLLR). Just two weeks earlier Courtney visited Wisconsin and attended the Chapter Annual Meeting and Programs Committee meeting.
NAIOP WI – What is new at NAIOP?
Courtney – This is a very exciting year for NAIOP – we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary! It all starts at CLLR with a great leadership program and a decade-themed party. We also have a new name for our annual conference, CRE Converge, which will be in Chicago in October (stay tuned for details – Wisconsin members will be offered a special discounted registration rate). This will be our largest annual conference yet!
NAIOP WI – What is your top priority in 2017?
Courtney – We have an aggressive agenda planned for the year. Our 50th Anniversary will certainly be a focal point, as will our advocacy efforts and working with the new administration. For me, I am focused on even stronger communications with our Chapters and developing those synergies to ensure we are providing a unique, core value to our members.
NAIOP WI – What is one membership benefit you would like to see members take more advantage of this year?
Courtney – The key is remembering that they (members) are part of a larger organization. NAIOP is has over 17,000 members, 52 Chapters, and is in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That perspective, along with our industry trends, forecasts, and research are invaluable tools for our members.
NAIOP WI – How would you evaluate the strengths/weaknesses of the Wisconsin Chapter?
Courtney – Wisconsin is a very well balanced chapter. You are large, in fact, for your market size, and provide a great deal of benefits. Working to expand your geographic reach as you are planning will only enhance how you serve current and future members.
NAIOP WI – Tell us more about you.
Courtney – I was raised an Army brat, moving 12 times. Today I live in the metro DC area with my husband. We have two beautiful daughters, a 19 year old attending college, and a 16 year old who is a nationally recognized diver.
