Bryan Johnsen, Tri City National Bank, Mentee
Doug and I have had regular meetings this year as part of the DL Mentoring Program. One of the best meetings we have had so far was the UWM signature event held at Discovery World. We had the chance to meet the CFO of the Packers and even wear his super bowl ring! Doug has been a great mentor in business and life. His career path experiences have provided valuable insight into what it takes to be successful in this industry. I especially enjoy hearing about what Doug does for Johnson Controls because it is much bigger scale than what I’m used to, being at a community bank. His insights into the real estate that Johnson Controls owns and is developing in China and other countries are awesome. He is opening up my world to a another side of real estate I would not have had the opportunity to learn about without this program. I look forward to keeping in touch with Doug even after this round of the mentoring program concludes.

NAIOP’s Mentoring Program has been a positive, beneficial experience for me. When I discovered I was paired with Mark Irgens, I felt like I “won” the Mentor jackpot. Mark and I have had two, one-on-one meetings thus far and have a third meeting scheduled. Our first meeting was over lunch where we were able to get to know each other’s educational backgrounds, career paths and personal interests. Our second meeting was at Irgens’ Downtown Milwaukee location. At our meeting, Mark gave me a tour of the office, introduced me to his team members and discussed the Milwaukee Commercial Real Estate market. For our third meeting, a tour of 833’s evolving construction site is scheduled. I am excited to witness the developing site and better understand the construction process of this proposed Class A office building.
Mark is a very intelligent individual whose drive and determination is invigorating. As the CEO and founding member of Irgens Partners, LLC (formerly known as Irgens Development Partners, LLC), Mark is a wealth of knowledge who is willing to share his experiences and expertise. I have gained a lot from my interactions with Mark and look forward to continuing to grow our relationship in and beyond the NAIOP Mentoring Program. Thank you Mark – it has been a pleasure!
