Briefly tell us what you do:
I am a commercial insurance broker specializing in the Real Estate and Construction industry. I joined Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., the fourth largest insurance broker in the world, in August of 2011. I live and work in Madison where I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Business with a Finance and Risk Management Degree. In business, I enjoy the challenge of strategizing with clients and prospects to build solutions that solve problems. Every development, renovation, ground up or any other construction project has its unique sets of challenges. Overcoming those challenges in a cost effective manner is what gets me into work every day!
Which project do you love the most or are most proud of?
I have had the pleasure of working on many great projects with my clients. Professionally, nothing beats seeing something old, tattered and vacant become something new and vibrant, especially when that change creates jobs and revitalizes a community. The job that I love the most is one that is ongoing in Illinois. The project is the renovation of a 13 story historic industrial building into a new hotel in a community that is in great need of this project. Working with our clients to develop unique solutions on projects that require innovation is the most rewarding part of my job.
Do you have a favorite author or quote?
One of my favorite quotes is an admirable quote from a not as admirable man.
“Whether you say, ‘I can’ or ‘I can’t,’ you’re right either way.” – Jordan Belfort
What is your favorite restaurant?
Carnivore in Milwaukee makes a fantastic steak. Determining a favorite restaurant is difficult, but the common denominator in my long list of good restaurants is a nice steak.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you?
I am a devout spectator of the Tour de France despite the fact that I am not a cycler. I love good competition, regardless of the activity.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
Golf is my passion. The game challenges me, course architecture intrigues me, and it is a game that very few have truly mastered. Aside from golf, I enjoy many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and camping.
IPhone, Blackberry or Android phone?
iPhone and everything Apple. I get a good laugh when I receive an email with “Sent from Blackberry” on the bottom. People still use those?
