Tell us about your business? What is your scope and/or expertise? How can you be a valuable partner with NAIOP-WI members? I personally do a great deal of strategic, succession and tax planning.
The tax laws are very favorable to real estate deals; many folks in the industry do not take full advantage of all that is out there, such as cost segregation, Section 179D, qualifying for capital gains treatment and paper structuring of TIFS.
What is a project/deal/opportunity you are most proud of? Go ahead, brag a little (and we won’t complain if you share a story that involves a NAIOP connection)! Merging with Wipfli in 1998. We were 16 people struggling to not have our clients outgrow us when we became Wipfli’s Milwaukee office. Today we are Wipfli’s largest office and world headquarters with over 150 people and support our real estate practice across the country.
Tell us about yourself… family, college, hometown, hobbies, when you started in the business, etc. Share something most people wouldn’t know about you. Grew up in Wauwatosa: went to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; I am a yoga instructor and scuba diving instructor.
What are 3 things you would take with you to a deserted island? Lots of water, cell phone and cell phone tower.
